Part of Your World (Posted Sep 05 2005) Mary Kwan - Friend from Serve Asia 2002 I had first met Julie in 2002 during our training for our upcoming missions trip. I saw this girl walking around the dorms at Pepperdine and by looking at her name tag, I realized that she was going to be my roommate. So I introduced myself and she was gracious enough to show me to our room. I knew right away that we'd be friends but I didn't quite know how since I'm such an introvert and Julie was such an extrovert. But God paved the way....I remember us sharing so openly that first night and we sat together on her bed and prayed for the things that were on our hearts and what God would show us in our time there. When we got on the field in E. Asia, Julie drummed up a lot of laughs. She and her teaching partner Bethany would do the wave at random times in class. She loved telling stories and captivated her audience...her wide-eyed students. I don't remember exactly what the story was about except something about a "big toe." I didn't quite get it but Julie was laughing like crazy! It was just fun to be around her. There were many a time when we were sitting in a van and Julie would fall asleep. I think I let her fall asleep on my shoulder once just becuz she looked so peaceful. But when she wasn't sleeping, she would sing. She liked singing Disney songs. She sang so sweetly. I remember her singing the one from the Little Mermaid-"Part of Your World." Just like the character Ariel, Julie wanted more from this life. She wanted God to reign in her and found such joy in pursuing Him. I've been blessed to be part of her world.
